WCCIP presses for entrepreneur development policy for KP

The Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar (WCCIP) here Sunday called upon the government for formulation of a comprehensive and goal oriented entrepreneurship development policy (EDP) for women in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) to facilitate and attract more female towards entrepreneurship besides bolstering trade, investment and business activities in the province.

President WCCIP Mrs Nuzhat Rauf told APP here Sunday the existence of such a policy for women is essential to provide an enabling environment to women entrepreneurs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides encouraging them to excel in their relevant fields and contribute in the process of national development.

The policy would go a long way in unleashing the potential of women entrepreneurs and would also help in creating more jobs in this region besides developing their business skills and promoting entrepreneurial culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She stressed the policy should address the key issues being faced by the women entrepreneurs like access to finance, markets, support in trainings and supportive regulations etc as well as should focus on establishing business centers to produce women entrepreneurs.

Former President WCCIP, Mrs.Sajida Zulfiqar Khan who also present on this occasion emphasized the government and private sector organizations should play their role in promoting entrepreneurship culture in KP through various initiatives and programs.

She said KP women have great potential and talent that needs to be exploited by providing right policy interventions and opportunities for entrepreneurship development.

Vice President Mrs.Shamama Arbab said WCCIP was formed for the economic empowerment of the KP’s women at all levels and to expand the financial strength of women entrepreneurs.

She said WCCIP was working to leverage the collective force of KP community of women entrepreneurs so that they could play an active role in improving their personal lives and strengthening the economy.
