A week long training workshop for thirty madrassa teachers of the Peshawar region concluded at the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies University of Peshawar. Skills relating to teachers self awareness, learning and development, critical thinking, higher order thinking, classroom management and lesson planning were imparted to the seminaries by resource persons in the training. Besides conflict resolution and peace building, human rights, pluralism and madrassa curriculum development were part of the moot.
Registrar University of Peshawar Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony. Former Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz and Director of the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies Prof. Dr. Miraj ul Islam Zia were also present on the occasion.
The objective of the workshop was to develop close linkages between the two sets of education i.e: madrassa and University and dispelling of the stereotype and misconceptions prevailing against them, said Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz in his address. We expect that the workshop would have acquainted the madrassa teachers with the challenges in front of them in the prevailing situation, he added.
Registrar Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi emphasized on close links between the religious seminaries and University for showing mutual cooperation amongst both seats of learning.
The event was organized by the University of Peshawar Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies and Peace Education Foundation Islamabad under a Memorandum of Understanding reached in September last year
