Fata Scout Association on Friday celebrated World Scout Day followed by a Peace Walk in Hayatabad Residence Society in connection with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Day (WAGGGS) coincides with the birthday of Scouting and Guiding founder Robert Baden-Powell and of Olave Baden-Powell.
It is thus celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Associations. Worldwide in nearly all Scout Associations, Founders’ Day was celebrated on February 22, the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell (born in 1857), the founder of Scouting, and coincidentally also of his wife Olave Baden-Powell (born in 1889).
Agency Education Officer Jadoon Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. EBS Naeem Wazir, AD Awan Hussain and youngsters from Fata were also present. They had a peace walk. The Boys Scout also took part in the declaration contest on Seeratul Nabi Prophet Hazara Muhammad (SAW) wherein Muhammad Adris and Fayyaz got first position jointly, followed by unveiling of Fata Scout Magazine.
Javaid Khan advised the youth to take active part in the scouting activities and scouting activities vital for the youth. He said the scout had key role in the world and through scout a community could establish a healthy nation. He said the world was facing numerous challenges and similarly Pakistan was also facing numerous challenges in general and the people of Fata in particular, therefore, activities of scout in Fata would bear good result. He said scout also teaches to work for others rather to protect selfishness. He advised the youth to work selflessly and lauded the scout for their dedicated efforts during the earth quake, flood and other crisis.
He said the youth could play vital role in the prosperity and integrity of nation.
