Young Scientists Show Up at Exhibition

Young computer scientists and students from over a dozen universities and postgraduate colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa actively participated and showed their expertise and mettle at a well-organised one-day emerging sciences exhibition at the Islamia College, Peshawar (ICP) on Thursday. The exhibition named as ‘ICUETC-14’ was organised by the Department of Computer Science, Islamia College Peshawar (ICP) in collaboration with the Directorate of Information Technology, KP and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board. The exhibition received an overwhelming response from youth involved in computer and its related fields from both public and private sectors universities in the province besides Rifah International University, Islamabad. Various kinds of competitions took place among the participants in eight computer-related categories, which included software, computer science quiz, spot photography, E-gaming, short movie, speed programming, poster design and web designing. The University Islamia College, Peshawar bagged maximum number of prizes and shields, followed by the University of Peshawar and University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. A total of 209 contestants took part in these events. Chief guest Engineer Sadiqullah Khan Chamkani, Managing Director KP IT Board, guest of honour Khaliqur Rehman, Parliamentary Secretary, Planning and Development KP, Registrar, ICP Prof. Dr Sareer Badshah, Prof. Attaullah Khan, Chairman Computer Science, ICP Dr Zahoor Jan distributed shields and cash prizes, and certificates among winners of the events. Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Sadiqullah Chamkani highly appreciated the enthusiasm of participants and dynamism of organizers. He said that his KP IT Board had sponsored a number of exhibitions at a number of places.
