Ali Yousefi, Director of the Cultural Center at the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran visited University of Peshawar and took various matters pertaining to cultural, research and academic collaboration with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan.
During his visit the Vice Chancellor apprised him about the plan of University of Peshawar to invite VC`s of different Iranian Universities to UoP, and chalk out a joint strategy for the promotion of compatible higher education system in the region.
Their visit would help us in identifying our areas of mutual interest and lead us to meaningful academic relations, he informed.
Dr. Jan said owing to the marked resemblance among the religious and cultural norms in the two brotherly countries, it was more natural for the students of both sides to get acquainted to the local atmosphere there.
“This is important because when one does not feel stranger at a place they tend to produce excellent results in the field of research and development“ he said.
The Vice Chancellor went further to add that people of Pakistan were passing through tough times and the country has been a focal point of the international politics for the last four decades.
He added that in such situation it was important to restrain from looking towards the west and strengthen bonds with neighboring countries like Iran to overcome these turbulent times, added the Vice Chancellor.
The Director Cultural Centre praised the idea of joint academic endeavors and extended his full cooperation to the Vice Chancellor in materializing the same. He said that Pakistan is just like home coming to him and both the countries should move ahead with regional cooperation at all levels.
