Mr. Hussain Zada, Secretary Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inaugurated the three days training on the topic “Irrigation & Efficient Irrigation System” for the farmers of FR Peshawar being organized by Planning & Development Department of the University of Agriculture, Peshawar in collaboration with GIZ and DEWAH (NGO). Also present on the occasion were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Vice Chancellor, The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, Syed Mohammad Ishtiaq, Member of University Senate/MPA, and Director General of Agriculture Research, Extension and Registrar of Cooperatives.
The purpose of the training workshop is to educate the farmers of Frontier Region Peshawar by providing them practical knowledge and demonstration and irrigation. Furthermore, the farmers will be visiting the University Dairy Farm to learning about Livestock Management.
Secretary Agriculture welcomed the participants and briefly explained the policy guidelines of Agriculture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also heard the views of the participants of FR Peshawar and assured them to solve their problems regarding water scarcity.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Vice Chancellor, The University of Agriculture, Peshawar while expressing his views, welcomed all participants to this 03 days training and assured them that they will be provided all the facilities on the Campus including boarding lodging and refreshment.
The dignitaries were then given a guided tour of the different facilities around the campus of the University of Agriculture, Peshawar including the Foreign Faculty Guest House, Library, Main Auditorium, Laboratories, Dairy Farm, Veterinary Hospital and the Feed Mill. A presentation was also delivered that elaborated on the University ranking, research achievements, development projects, students’ activities and outreach activities. The visiting delegation applauded the University’s achievements and promised to provide all out support for the growth and development of the University of Agriculture, Peshawar.
