The Teaching Staff Association of the Islamia College University has opposed any bid to give additional charge of the university to an outsider and urged the government not to replace the incumbent acting head of the institution till filling the office on permanent basis.

A meeting of the association was held with its president Faisal Shehzad in the chair. The meeting expressed serious concern over the provincial government’s bid to give additional charge of the university to University of Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rasul Jan.

There were reports in the university that addition charge of the ICU has been given to Dr Rasul Jan. The Higher Education Department wants to take back the additional charge of vice-chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Prof Dr Ihsan Ali, but it has failed so far to replace him. To date, four different summaries recommending different names have been moved, but no final decision could be taken.

The TSA vowed to defend Dr Ihsan Ali as their head by all means till appointment of a full-time vice-chancellor. Since the kidnapping of ICU vice-chancellor Ajmal Khan, the university has been facing strange administrative situation. The government has given extension to Ajmal Khan till June 2016 and till then no permanent VC can be appointed.
