The Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology University of Peshawar would start BS four years program in Bio-informatics, said Director COBAM on Tuesday while sharing a brief about the strategic plan of the centre during the visit of Vice Chancellor UoP Prof Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan.
He added that courses had been designed for the new discipline and the case of up gradation of the centre would place for approval from the relevant University bodies in near future.
Skilled Human Resource in Genetics Engineering and DNA tests would be produced under the new program, informed the Director.
He said the Centre since its inception in 2001 has produced five hundred seventy graduates including thirty seven M Phil and nine PhD and the diagnostic Laboratories and a pharmacy shop established by the Centre were giving excellent community services to the University employees and local population.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the progress made by the centre and showed his resolve to provide financial and logistic support to it.
He added Department of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology had good contribution in university ranking, adding that he wants other Departments to come at their level.
He said that all Ph. D faculties should submit research proposals/ projects so as to build strong academia industry linkages. Dean Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences was also present on the occasion.
