The University of Peshawar arranged a special Eid day gathering for its foreigner and hard areas students after eid prayers at the UoP guest house.
The party was attended by around 30 UoP foreigner students belonging to Yemen, Malaysia, Sudan and Nigeria, along with students from restive Kurran and North Waziristan Agencies of the greater campus. Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan and other university officials received the students at the party.
Dr Rasul Jan in his informal address on the occasion reiterated his resolve to make all possible facilitation arrangements to enhance the enrollment percentage of foreign students at the University. “We are present among you today so as to share this moment of joy together at a time when you are away from your family and hometowns on this Eid ul Fitar, he said.
He added University of Peshawar has made a foreign students facilitation desk to make their admission process smooth and on time. These foreign students would convey the real image of our people and area to the whole world once they pass out. I am sure after you graduate from University of Peshawar, would help in rectifying, most of the misperceptions, that prevails, among the world about us, said vice-chancellor. Special steps are also being taken to encourage more people from the under privilege tribal areas to take admission in UoP, he said.
The quest for achieving academic excellence should be more in students of hard areas as compared to the rest of the country, because they have to prove a point that people of their area are peace loving, progressive and wanted a safer world, said Dr. Jan.
The function was attended among many by Former Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Farooq Swati, Treasurer Yorid Ahsan Zia, Assistant Provost Sheraz Khan and others.
It is worth mentioning here that University of Peshawar on every eid day arranges gathering of muslim foreign students and those hailing from hard areas to share happy moments of the day.
