The golden jubilee celebration of the University Public School kicked off on Monday with a grand opening ceremony held at the school lawn. The day started with an impressive display of military drill by the students of Islamia Collegiate School which was followed by physical training and special formation of “Up Up UPS“ by the junior section of the school.
The senior students presented impressive skits highlighting importance of national unity to overcome terrorism, the alumni lauded the value addition of the alma mater to their life. A three day education expo was also organized on the sidelines of the golden jubilee celebrations in which various schools across Peshawar city exhibited around thirty stalls.
The stalls presented a colorful picture ranging from true colors of the homeland to the science feats of the students. The first day celebrations were formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan by cutting the golden jubilee cake. He was accompanied by Director Admissions Prof. Hizbullah Khan and Principal UPS Gul Hameed. Students and their parents were also present on the occasion. Established in 1963, University Public School has been imparting quality education to the people of the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA for fifty years, said Vice Chancellor in his address. He added the school has given best human resource to the civil and military services of Pakistan, which is a matter of pride of this historic institution.
Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan went further to add that the responsibility of imparting quality education and mental grooming lies equally on the teachers and their parents.
When the teachers teach the students about bookish knowledge and social behavior, it’s the parents who are the ones to implement them and ensured that their offspring’s are moving in the right direction, said the Vice Chancellor.
Principal University Public School Gul Hameed, highlighted the key achievements of the school over the past five decades. He said that the school has had the honor of standing as the fifth best school in the country, as per federal government survey conducted lately.
Life time achievement awards were bestowed upon former principals and teachers of the school at the end.
