Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan has directed the education department of Federally Administered Tribal Areas to take concrete measures for provision of modern education facilities in all schools of tribal areas. He asked for taking steps for introduction of English medium of instructions in Fata schools and to ensure that adequate arrangements were in progress both in respect of capacity building of teachers and development of teaching facilities. The governor issued the directives while presiding over a high-level meeting of education department, Fata, at Governor House here on Friday, according to a handout. The meeting was attended by Fata additional chief secretary Arbab Mohammad Arif and other relevant officials. The governor said that promotion of education in Fata was the top priority of the government and pledged that modern education facilities would be provided in Fata schools. He directed the officials of Fata secretariat to take urgent steps to improve the working of Fata Education Foundation. He said there was a need to pay due attention to the teachers’ training programme for the capacity-building of teachers. He said that a system should also be devised for the encouragement of teachers in Fata on the basis of their efficiency. The governor said that all ongoing social programmes in Fata should be run under one umbrella so as to improve their monitoring. He said that education was an effective weapon for overcoming problems and poverty. He said that no negligence would be tolerated in the programmes of promotion of education. He directed the officials concerned to complete the ongoing projects according to the schedule. The governor asked the officials to devote their efforts to the noble cause of imparting quality education to the young generation in line with modern trends in Fata, while the government would provide necessary funds in this regard. He said that the tribal region was blessed with talented youth who needed to be properly trained. He stressed that there was an urgent need to provide them with opportunities so that their capabilities were usefully employed for the nation’s socio-economic betterment.
