The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah while appreciating the Higher Education Commission for holding training workshops for the principals of degrees colleges, affiliated to various universities has said that it indeed is a correct approach to building capacity of the respective heads with special focus on promoting their technical knowhow on ensuring information technology based efficient administration and further strengthen vision and up-date their knowledge.

Addressing at the concluding ceremony of the first ever 7–day long workshop which he hosted at Governor’s House, here, the Governor said, making imparting of quality education at every level especially at the primary level possible is beyond doubt a great challenge which demands integrated approach to derive the desired goals.

“Being keen observer of the working of primary schools in FATA, it is my earnest desire that the HEC should also come forward and help us in making their functioning fully productive in all respects,” he remarked.

The ceremony besides all the twenty principals of different degree colleges from across the province was also attended by senators, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Haji Ghulam Ali and Mrs. Farhat Abbas besides Senator Abdul Razzaq from FATA and some of the senior educationists of the province.

It is worth mentioning that the moot was a part of long series of similar events under which 20,000 principals of degree colleges at the national level will be offered opportunities to update their knowledge and administrative skills and the next workshop is expected to be attended by 60 heads of the respective institutions in this province. The ceremony was also addressed by Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and the Regional Director of HEC Farmanullah.

Highlighting certain aspects of the prevailing scenario of education system, the Governor further pointed out that time of the new generation especially at the primary level is much more precious and I would like to sit with the authorities of the HEC especially at the regional level to seek way forward for capacity building of heads of primary educational institutions of FATA on the similar lines.

Educational institutions are the nurseries for developing future leaderships and there is a need to follow a crash program to develop them to the desired level and let us take start from training their heads, he said.

Mere academic education, the Governor pointed out, does not serve the purpose to the desired level and to make the system fully productive, there is also the need to enable the teachers to contribute significantly in personality development of students on constructive lines.

Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and Farmanullah earlier highlighting the importance of the workshop said that it is an effort to offer opportunity to the principals of degree colleges to have brain storming sessions and get them up-dated on modern developments in education system coupled with the challenges expected to confront in future in this respect.
