Medical education related to humanity:Governor

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah has said that medical education being directly related to ailing humanity, bears great importance and with the grace of Almighty Allah we have achieved remarkable progress in various disciplines of medical science. “Our doctors and surgeons are renowned internationally and second to none”, he added.

Addressing the 3rd Convocation of Gomal Medical College at its premises on Wednesday, the Governor, however reminded the medical practitioners that still we have to go a long way to ensure provision of healthcare services in line with internationally recognized standards in remote and far flung areas of the province as well as FATA. “Polio eradication; Dengue, Lushmaniasis and Congo virus have emerged as new challenges, apart from the requirements of the routine health care facilities”, he remarked.

Saba Khan and Farhatullah were honoured with awards for being best graduates of the sessions 2012 and 2011 respectfully while Memoona Azam achieved the gold medal for being best student of the year 2010.

The Governor while appreciating the working of management of the college also pointed out that their responsibilities carry enormous importance and demand extra efforts for coming upto the expectations of the people.

He wished the Gomal Medical College a shining status amongst its sister institutions at the national level and to become a worthwhile partner in the struggle for ensuring better health care to the people.

Pointing towards graduates, the Governor said that it just is the beginning of the long journey wherein they need to be innovative and daring. “Knowledge bears all the powers to bring a positive change for welfare of society and I am confident, education would continue to be an important part of your life and you will continue your struggle to seek knowledge and new skills in future too”, he said. He also congratulated the graduates as well as their faculty members and teachers for their success in fulfillment of their responsibilities successfully.

Earlier, the Governor gave away degrees and awards to the graduates.
