Operational inauguration of 400 MHZ NMR held at ICS,UOP.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan, Vice Chancellor UoP  inaugurated the operation of the 400 MHz Varian Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer worth around 30 million rupees at the Institute of Chemical Sciences (ICS) University of Peshawar.

The machine is the first of its kind in varsities and research institutes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and can illustrate the structure of the most complicated organic molecules in one minute.

This will help the researchers in patronizing their researches and the facility would be made available to institutes and Universities around the country as well.

In his inaugural address the Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the faculty and staff of the Institute of Chemical Sciences for successful launch of NMR and termed the equipment as a wonderful addition to the fleet of instruments that already exists there. He promised to support the overhead expenses incurred on this sophisticated machine till it become self sustainable.

Director ICS Prof. Dr. Yousaf Iqbal emphasized that this analytical tool would help the scientists and research scholars to produce quality papers that would be of benefit to the general public.

Earlier Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nisar elaborated upon the key function of the 400 MHz NMR. He said that the Institute intends to upgrade its status to 900 MHz in future.
