Pashto Book Fair held in Pashto Academy

Pashto Book Fair arranged by Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar was held in Pashto Museum on Thursday. The book fair was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rasool Jan. Large number of students visited the book fair and took keen interests in different books related to Pashto. The visitors also visited different sections of Pashto Museum. Stall of Pashto writers from Afghanistan was also set up during the fair.

Talking to The Frontier Post, Chairperson Pashto Academy Dr Salma Shaheen said that the new generation had stopped reading books and they read everything online which was why this book fair was arranged and books were being sold on 50 percent discount so the people could take maximum advantage of the book fair. She hoped to continue arranging such events to promote book reading as well as to promote Pashto literature and culture. The people looked excited to see the books they had wanted and that too on a 50 percent discount. Dr Faisal Khan said that he was overwhelmed to see the crowd. He added that there was a fantastic collection of books up for grabs in Pashto, Urdu and English about the history, culture and heritage of this region. The new museum building makes an excellent venue for a book fair, he viewed. 

Muhammad Uzair Khattak said he was really glad to see the collection of books at the exhibition and happier so to see the crowd it had gathered. He said he had always wanted to read about the history and culture of the Pashtun tribes in detail and this was the prefect opportunity to upgrade his library on the topics.
