Prof Dr Rasul Jan appointed VC Peshawar University

Professor Dr. Rasul Jan has been appointed as permanent Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar for a period of four years relieving Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz of his responsibilities as Vice Chancellor, said a spokesman for varsity here Thursday.

Prior to his new assignment, Prof.Dr.Rasul Jan was Vice Chancellor University of Malakand since April 15, 2008. He was awarded Presidential award of Pride of Performance in 2010 for his contribution in the field of Chemistry. There are 148 publications to his credit that appeared in journals of international repute.

Prof. Dr.Rasul Jan attained his master degree from University of Peshawar in Chemistry in 1976 and did M.Phil from same university in 1979. He obtained his Ph.D degree in analytical Chemistry in 1983 from National University of Ireland. He was a Fulbright Fellow member of New Mexico State University USA from 2003-2004 and visiting scientist of Arizona State University USA in 2005.

Prof Dr.Rasul Jan carries extensive teaching experience and served as lecturer in Department of Chemistry UoP from 1977-1980, taught M.Sc classes, taught theory and practical to B.Sc honors and B.Sc general classes in University of Dublin from 1982-1985.

He is member of Royal Chemical Society of UK since 1985, Fellow of Chemical Society of Pakistan, and Member US Fulbright Alumni USEFP Pakistan.
