Character Building of young generation predominantly students is must for establishing a corruption free society.
We must inculcate in them high moral values as well as abhorrence against corruption in the minds of youth.
These views were expressed by speakers at a Provincial level Inter-University Declamation Contest on “Importance of Character Building in Elimination of Corruption from the society” organized by NAB (KP) in collaboration with University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Peshawar at UET Hall, this morning.
As many as 13 Public and Private Sector universities of the Province participated in the declamation contest.
Vice Chancellor UET Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani was the Chief Guest while DG NAB (KP) Col (R) Shahzad Anwar Bhatti was the guest speaker.
VC said that our approach should be realistic. Instead of cursing others we should lit a candle and play our role to eliminate the menace of corruption. He added that besides character building of youth it is imperative to focus on education.
Our education is non performing and one of the neglected sector. Even Nepal is better than us and we are the third least country as far as spending on education sector are concerned. He appreciated NAB for arranging such functions as such like events will have a positive impact on the character building of young generation.
DG NAB (KP) stressed upon the students to adopt high moral values such as self-discipline, truthfulness, honesty, punctuality, fairness in dealings and respect for elders. He added that student’s speeches highly inspired him and their enthusiasm, talent and spirit reflect that the future of country is bright.
Speaking on the occasion Col (R) Waheedullah Khan Addl. Director NAB KP highlighted aims and objectives of the event.
Earlier, students in their thought provoking speeches urged upon all segments of the society to play their role in elimination of corruption from the society. They also highlighted the importance of character building to establish a corruption free society.
Muhammad Saqib Nawaz of Hazara University, Miss. Araik Khan of City University Peshawar, Miss. Sana Matiullah of Gomal University D.I. Khan and Miss. Rubab Tanvir of UET Peshawar stood first, second, third and fourth respectively.
