Services of former UoP employees hailed

A ceremony to recognize the services of former UoP employees was held at the University of Peshawar guest house wherein 25 faculty members and officers of the University who attained the age of superannuation in the current years were awarded souvenirs on the day.

Three former Vice Chancellors, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan, Prof. Dr. Azmat Hayat Khan and Prof. Dr. Abdul Matin gave the University shield as token recognition to the services of ex-servicemen.

Addressing the ceremony the chief host and Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan praised the contribution rendered by former faculty members and officials in the academic uplift of the University.

He added they were experts in their field of specialty and had produced qualified gradates for further utilization in their professional fields. The retirement of such a huge number of faculty members from the University in just one calendar year is worrisome and their immediate replacement would be an uphill task, added the Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Jan informed that in order to groom the young faculty, the services of senior faculty would be hired. He went further to add that one such initiative was the appointment of meritorious professors in varsity.

Former Dean Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz paid a vote of thanks to the University administration for arranging the ceremony and valuing their contribution. He added a Professor never retires and that there service was at the disposal of the mother institution whenever needed in future.

It is worthwhile that fourteen faculty members, five teachers of the constituent schools, four admin officers and two professors of the national centre of excellence in physical chemistry retired from active service of University of Peshawar in the year 2013.

The ceremony was organized by the office of the Registrar University of Peshawar and was attended by Dr. Syed Fazli Hadi, Deans of Faculties and officials of the University.
