Khyber Medical University (KMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hafeezullah said on Tuesday that an emergency advisory team comprising medical, public health and nursing experts would soon visit the Swat district after the outbreak of dengue fever and recommend precautionary measures to the authorities concerned.
He was chairing a meeting of the university syndicate. He said that here new projects of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar namely “ Establishment of KMU Institute of Nursing & Medical Technology with estimated cost of Rs750.00 million, establishment of KMU Institute of Medical Sciences with estimated cost of Rs995.00 million and strengthening of KMU with estimated cost of Rs450.00 million have been conceptually approved by the relevant forums.
He added that on the successful completion of PhD by the KMU scholars abroad as well as completion of PhD studies by the scholars enrolled in IBMS, various constituent institutes shall start functioning to the optimum and shall initiate practical research in the field of medical and allied health sciences.
The syndicate approved provisional/conditional affiliation of the RMI School of Nursing, Peshawar and Royal College of Nursing, Swat for B.Sc Nursing (4 years), Postgraduate College of Nursing (PGCN), Peshawar for Post RN (02 Years) & Fast Track (01 Year) Programme and National Institute of Health & Management Sciences, Peshawar for BS Medical Lab Technology.
The house discussed KMU Research & Ethics Statutes 2008 (Revised in June 2013) in detail and recommended the revised draft for approval of the Senate with some amendments. The syndicate also gave approval to the proposed eligibility criteria of different posts for the Office of Research Innovation & Commercialisation (ORIC), KMU.
