The 57th annual prize distribution ceremony of University Model School was held on Tuesday in which students with distinctions in curricular and extracurricular activities were awarded with cash prizes and medals. Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr.Qibla Ayaz was the chief guest on the occasion.
A full day science and arts exhibition was arranged for the female students of the school. Young artists and scientists displayed their creative work in the fair, highlighting the importance of natural resources of the country and their efficient utilization to overcome the problems faced by the country. Students presented skits on the day in which they showed their love for the country and resolve to move forward in turbulent times for its prosperity. They also called for an end to violence on children and child labor.
For her outstanding over all performance in both curricular and co curricular activities, Zara Qaiser was awarded student of the year award while Mehr Khan, Palwasha Wazir and Aiman Ali were presented silver medals for getting 9th and 19th positions in Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar SSC exam of year 2011-12 respectively.
Addressing the students the Vice Chancellor said this moment was a privilege for students, teachers and their parents. He added that most of the opinion leaders in the world were people who performed best in co curricular activities in the student life.
“This shows the importance of co curricular activities, and that is why we are working hard to make best use of student societies on campus in order to enhance the student’s vision and intellectual thinking,” he said.
Earlier the Principal of School presented annual report. The event was attended by Registrar Dr. Syed Fazli hadi and others.
