UoP, Iranian Consulate vow to work jointly

The University of Peshawar and Consulate of Iran Peshawar, Thursday, vowed to work jointly for the preservation of Persian language. The decision was reached in a meeting of the newly appointed Consul General of Iran Mr. Saeid Zinati with the Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan.

The newly appointed consul general informed the Vice Chancellor that in order to achieve maximum enrollment in Department of Persian, special scholarships would be given to students from the current year, while joint certificate courses in the Persian language can also be started in the near future with mutual consensus.

The world is becoming borderless and the current globalization has posed many challenges in preserving the innate values, culture and old languages like Persian, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan. He added Pakistan and Iran share common religious and cultural values and both can work together to further strengthen them. He called for frequent visits of the scholars from Iran and those from University of Peshawar on reciprocal basis so as to get benefit from each other’s research experience.

Dr. Jan appreciated the contribution of former Consul General Hassan Darvaish Vand in establishing linkages among varsities of both the countries.
