A woman legislator of provincial assembly here Wednesday demanded strict action against Prof. Dr. Raheem Bangash of Khyber Medical College (KMC) who allegedly thrashed a female student for wearing veil in the classroom. The JI woman MPA, Rashda Riffat brought the issue through a call attention notice in the provincial assembly. The Deputy Speaker, Imtiaz Shahid chaired the session. In her call attention notice the female MPA drew attention of the house, towards the matter in which a girl student of KMC was misbehaved by the Professor. She said that the incident has tarnished the image of Pakistan in the Islamic world. She said that a mockery has been made of the Islamic norms by the Dr. Abdur Raheem Bangash. MPA demanded a transparent and fair enquiry in to the incident and suggested punitive action against the culprit to avoid any such happening in future. Taking the floor, Health Minister, Shaukat Yusufzai told the house that provincial government has suspended the concerned doctor and constituted a committee to probe the matter. He said that government also condemned the incident. Taking the floor information minister, Shah Farman said that he had personally visited the KMC and had met the student and presented a gift of Hijab to her.
