The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that Islamia College has a great role in promotion of education and knowledge in this part of the world in particular since its establishment; 100 years ago and time has come that the custodians of this historic asset should also contribute significantly to help in further improvement of quality of education in the province.
Presiding over the 7th meeting of the Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Memorial Trust at Governor’s House here on Monday he further stated that we owe a lot to the founders of this historic institution and there is a need to pay back the return of their contribution in the coins of our efficient services for furthering there vision especially towards promotion of quality of the knowledge being imparted in this province in particular.
The meeting beside others was also attended by the former-Provincial Governor, Lt. Gen (retd) Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai, former Governor of Baluchistan, Lt. Gen (retd) Imaranullah Khan, ex-Ambassador, Mr. Amir Usman, chief secretaries, Sahibzada Imtiaz Ahmad, Muhammad Azam Khan and Ejaz Rahim. Beside, sitting Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University, Prof: Dr. Noor Jehan and the Ex-Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof: Dr. Abdul Matin Khan were also present.
The participant also shared proposals to help the management of the Islamia College University, Peshawar for observing Centenary Celebrations of the institution in April next year in a befitting way.
The meeting reviewed various proposals to further expand the role and contribution of the trust for supplementing the on going efforts at various levels for promotion of education in the province and it was told that the trust has managed resources to further expand its contribution and institutional development of its services which also include provision of scholarships to deserving students in near future.
